Composite bonding in Koothattukulam

Composite bonding, also called tooth bonding or a composite restoration, uses tooth-coloured resin that is shaped directly on your tooth. It is a way to repair and reshape teeth, often in a single visit and with little or no removal of the tooth.

What bonding can fix

  • Chipped or broken edges
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are short, uneven or oddly shaped
  • A single discoloured tooth
  • Worn tooth edges

The steps

  1. Consultation and a plan for the shape and shade you would like.
  2. The shade of the resin is matched to your teeth.
  3. The tooth surface is lightly prepared so that the resin can bond.
  4. The resin is applied in layers, shaped by hand and hardened with a special light.
  5. The tooth is polished so that it looks natural.

Many bonding treatments are finished in one visit. Larger changes can take longer.

What to expect over time

  • Composite can stain over time, so tea, coffee and tobacco matter
  • It can chip or wear, especially if you bite nails, pens or hard food
  • It can usually be repaired or polished, without redoing the whole treatment
  • Regular check-ups and cleaning keep it looking good

Bonding or veneers

Bonding is usually quicker, costs less and needs little or no enamel removal. Porcelain veneers are usually more resistant to stains and last longer, but cost more and are harder to reverse. We compare them on our smile makeover page.

Cost and EMI

The cost depends on how many teeth are treated and how much work each needs. We give you an estimate after your consultation. EMI is available with Bajaj Finserv EMI Network, subject to approval.

Questions about composite bonding

Does composite bonding hurt?

For small repairs, many people do not need an injection. Your dentist will tell you what to expect for your teeth.

How long does bonding last?

It depends on the size of the work, your habits and how well you look after your teeth. It can chip or wear and may need repairs or polishing over the years.

Can bonding be removed or repaired?

Usually yes. Because it is added to the tooth rather than cut into it, it can often be added to, polished or replaced.

What is the difference between bonding and a composite filling?

The material is the same. A filling repairs decay. Cosmetic bonding is shaped to change how the tooth looks.

Can I see the result before I start?

At the consultation we scan your teeth and show you a preview of your likely result. Individual results vary.

This page gives general information. Your own treatment depends on an examination by your dentist. Individual results vary.
